Jolana Slavíková is an internationally emerging Czech mezzo-soprano acclaimed for her portrayals of powerful and emotionally rich female characters. In the 2024/25 season, she made her role debut as Carmen at both the Hungarian State Opera and Wrocław Opera, captivating audiences with her magnetic stage presence. She also appeared as Olga in Eugene Onegin (F. X. Šalda Theatre, Liberec) and Suzuki in Madama Butterfly (South Bohemian Theatre).
Her critically praised performance as Eva in Josef Mysliveček’s Adamo ed Eva (F. X. Šalda Theatre) earned her a nomination for the 2024 Thalia Award. Jolana also brings flair to comedic repertoire, as shown in her roles as Isabella (L’italiana in Algeri, Wrocław Opera) and Suzy (The Polish Wedding, Dresden Operetta).
From 2018 to 2022, she was a soloist at the Dresden Operetta, where she performed leading roles including Stasi (The Csárdás Princess) and Maria (West Side Story). She was a member of the Thuringian Opera Studio, appearing as Zerlina in Don Giovanni, and has performed at the National Theatre in Weimar (as Clara Schumann in Geliebtes Klärchen) and at the Altenburg-Gera Theatre (as Vlasta in Die Passagierin).
Her guest appearances include engagements with the Erfurt Theatre (Rusalka), Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse (Tiefland), and Frankfurt Opera, where she appeared in Le nozze di Figaro and Hansel and Gretel (in versions for children).
Jolana Slavíková has received numerous accolades from prestigious international singing competitions. In 2022, she was honored with the President of Hungary’s Prize for the best interpretation of a Liszt song, the Hungarian State Opera Award, and the Liszt Academy Award at the 5th Éva Marton International Singing Competition in Budapest.
She was a finalist at the International Vocal Competition in 's-Hertogenbosch (The Netherlands), won second prize and the Thuringian Philharmonic Award at the Gabriela Beňačková International Singing Competition (Jihlava, CZ), and took 1st prize at the 36th Dušek Singing Competition in Prague.
Earlier, she was awarded the City of Salzburg Prize at the Salzburg Festival Summer Academy (2019) and participated in the NEUE STIMMEN masterclasses (2018), where she worked under Brigitte Fassbaender. She is also a recipient of scholarships from the Czech Ministry of Culture, ArteMusica Stiftung, Giovanni Omodeo Stiftung, and the DAAD Prize.
Jolana earned her bachelor’s degree in opera performance with distinction from the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt and completed her master’s studies at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar. She is currently continuing her vocal development under the guidance of soprano Christina Vasileva.
